Fanagans Funeral Directors are one of Ireland’s longest established Funeral Directors and have been trusted by families all over Dublin to take care of their funeral needs with professionalism, dignity and compassion. This year, they are very proud to be celebrating 200 years in business.
The Fanagan family have had a very long association with St. Mary’s College RFC since the late 1930’s, going back to William Fanagan, father of Billy, John and Joe. Joe captained the team that brought back the Leinster Senior Cup to Fortfield Road for the first time in 1958 and served as president in 1980/81.
The next generation represented by Michael and David served as presidents (2012/13) and (2017/18) respectively and Jody played his part on the pitch at under 19 level and Junior teams. David J., son of David A. Fanagan, has been with the first squad since he joined in 2014.
The Fanagan Group also includes Carnegies, Kirwans and Nichols Funeral Directors and in total they have 11 funeral homes located throughout Dublin. They have recently opened a new funeral home in Willbrook, Rathfarnham. This is a modern, custom built funeral home which ensures every need of a bereaved family is catered for.
Jody Fanagan, Managing Director, commented “In our Bi-Centenary year, The Fanagan Group are delighted to be one of St. Mary’s College RFC main sponsors and we wish all teams, at every level, the very best of luck for the season ahead”. We have a long-established relationship with St. Marys College RFC as players, supporters and we have been honoured to take care of so many families associated with the club in times of bereavement”.
Since 1904, Canterbury has constantly strived to make the best rugby clothing in the world & has led the market with new ideas to improve performance on the field.
In 1904, (1 year before St Marys College RFC won their first silverware) deep in the CANTERBURY province of New Zealand, John Lane, Pringle Walker & Alfred Rudkin started making woollen garments. Before long, they were making uniforms for the army in World War I & such was their reputation for tough durable product the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team asked them to make a kit to play in. The rest, as they say, is history; Canterbury outfitted the All Blacks for over 75 years and have gone on to working with South Africa, Australia, Scotland, England, Ireland and many other top tier sides at international, provincial, schools, colleges and club level.
It is with great pride that Canterbury of New Zealand gets to put its logo beside the famous St Mary’s Star that has been worn by some great men. These two symbols represent tradition, strength and quality and should be a perfect marriage.
We wish all teams in the club a successful and injury free season.
