Welcome Message From The President
It is with tremendous pride and pleasure that I welcome all our guests, visitors, players and members to St. Mary’s College R.F.C. Last season saw us winning the A.I.L. [Ulster Bank League] for the second time. It was a great tribute to our first team squad and management, for all the very hard work put in during the season. They were all terrific. A very special thank you from all the membership of St. Mary’s.
Our ambition this season is to win the A.I.L. for a third time - back to back wins. To our Club Captain, Richard Sweeney and his squad, Director of Rugby, Kevin Conboy, Senior Coaches Hugh Hogan, James Norton, Steven Hennessy & Management Team under Terry Tierney, I extend my best wishes for another very successful A.I.L campaign.
Also, may I wish all our team captains, coaches, managers and players a most enjoyable season and every success in their own competitions. I would like to also mention that this is the first time that we have had a father and son, as captain of the club. Richard's dad, J.B. Sweeney, captained St. Mary’s in the season of 1971-72. Well done to both.
A special word of thanks to our all our sponsors, One of our sponsor’s Umbro, after 23 years of support, have decided to end their sponsorship. To Paul Dean, a huge thank you from everyone in St. Mary’s. It has been much appreciated.
I would like to thank all who advertise in our Year Book and on the hoardings, around our main pitch, support our fund raising activities and attend our very popular pre-match lunches. In these challenging times, I would ask all members to pay their subs on time and support the club as much as possible - It's your club.
A big thank you to all our 'workers' in the club, who give up so much of their valuable time to St. Mary’s. These include our Secretary, John D. Cunningham, our Treasurer, Liam Byrne, John Carvill, Brian Corrigan, our car park man for many years, Noel Keegan, our Executive Committee and of course Marie Hammond, Tony Mc Guinness and Frank Doyle, who run everything so well, on a daily basis.
Have a great and satisfying season everyone and a very warm welcome to Templeville Road.
